Here's the oblique fingerweaving I've done. I mean fingerweaving in the colonial Native context and not the finger-loop braiding context.

Oblique fingerweaving is presumed to be an older technique than the warp-faced method.

My first attempt at fingerweaving was a set of warp-faced garters each with twelve strands of green 4-ply wool knitting yarn. While they got the job done they were no where near what I'm doing now.

A pouch done in black (commercial dye) rug wool. The lip is braintan and the tassels are deer tail hair in copper cones (rolled by me) hung from red, white, and black porcupine quill plaiting.

A sash done in red and blue (commercial dyes) rug wool. The bead pattern comes from an original sash once owned by Sir John Caldwell.

A set of garters done in black and yellow rug wool. The black was achieved with the bark of the red maple tree and iron sulfate (cooperas). The yellow was achieved with grape leaves and copper sulfate (blue vitriol).

A horn strap done in yellow and black (commercial dyes) rug wool. Resist dyed with beeswax and red rit.

A scarf done in green, blue, and white knitting wool. This has no historical basis that I know of but it sure does keep the neck warm.
